When they arrived at the new house, the Brightwoods placed Rosie in a room with all the things she needed. They played with her for a while and then left her on her own the rest of the day. They still had plenty of moving to do, and wanted Rosie to be in a safe, out of the way place.
That first day, Rosie wondered a lot where her little red mouse was. She searched every square inch of the room, and dived in the toy box more than once, but it never showed up.
On the second day, the Brightwoods let Rosie roam the rest of the house. This gave her plenty to do, and she didn’t think about her little red mouse as much. The new house was so much bigger than the apartment had been! There were all kinds of nooks and crannies to discover and explore, and several very good windowsills for morning, afternoon and evening naps! She missed her little red mouse at nap times the most.
