Blindsided (part 5)

“Why didn’t you tell me about the… uh… you know.” Jack’s voice is husky with unshed tears as his stranger’s hand rests on my abdomen. “We’re going to be okay,” he says. “We’ll start over. Do counseling like you wanted. Whatever it takes. I promise.” He takes my left hand in his, feels for my wedding ring. The ring isn’t there. I have no idea where it is.

I close my eyes and let myself drift away…
