Now oncoming headlights fill my sight. Screaming, I look out the window to see a smiling skeleton salute me…
And acrid odor permeates my space. I feel suffocated. I sense a possibility of freedom. I hear my heartbeat. My body shakes and gasps for air. I am looking at her again. She is staring at the flower, eyes narrowed with intensity. Her jaw is clenched. As she moves to grab the orchid, some instinct tells me, “I must have the flower.”
