Orchid (part 17)
I open my eyes to a too-bright room and concerned faces bending over me. Their closeness frightens me.
“Where am I?” I croak.
“You’ve been in an accident,” a woman soothes, pulling a blanket up over me. “But you’re going to be all right.” On the inside of her arm is a tattoo of a black cat with golden eyes.
I stare to the badge on her uniform—Moriah Handley, RN.
